First Aid For Essential Oils

FIRST AID FOR ESSENTIAL OILS
Description Action Required
ACCIDENTAL SPILLAGE DIRECTLY ON SKIN

If undiluted essential oil is spilled directly on the skin, it should be removed immediately. This will avoid transferring it to other parts of the body which could result in skin sensitivity.

Remove immediately with washing-up liquid or soap.
Use warm water to wash the affected area.
Dry hands, apply moisturiser or a knob of butter.
ALLERGIC REACTION FROM CONSUMING A FEW DROPS OF OIL
If a person shows serious signs of illness after a few drops only, it is an allergic reaction that needs medical attention as soon as possible. Drink a glass of full-fat milk while you are waiting for medical attention.
ACCIDENTAL EYE CONTACT WITH ESSENTIAL OILS
If this occurs, wash eyes immediately.
The effect of the oils will probably redden and sting the eye.
If these steps do not alleviate the pain, seek medical guidance.
Flush eyes with clean warm water.
If it is severe, continuously flush eyes with full-fat milk.
If in doubt, seek medical assistance.
ACCIDENTAL OVERDOSE WITH ESSENTIAL OILS
If a small child has consumed a bottle of essential oil, seek medical attention as soon as possible. Also give them milk or water to sip until medical help arrives. Drink full-fat milk or sip water until medical help arrives.
Do not try to vomit, this may create more complications.

If an allergic reaction occurs, depending upon its severity, action must be taken.
If a person begins to convulse, protect the persons head by clearing the surrounding area. Seek medical advice.
