The results are impressive and welcomed as MRSA has fallen into the antibiotic resistance era which may bring about many new innovative concepts forward in the fight against new generation bacterial resistance.

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) belongs to the Lamiaceae family and has been used for many centuries, even by the Egyptians to embalm dead bodies. Its main active constituents are known to be made up of 20-54% thymol which is highly antiseptic. It has many uses and is employed in many mouthwashes, including hand sanitisers.

Essential oil of thyme has many uses as it aids the memory and concentration (similar to rosemary) but has a deeper use for infection such as tackling colds, coughs, asthma, laryngitis, tonsilitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, catarrh, whooping cough and sore throats through administration of full body massage through topical application.

In herbal medicine it is used as a urinary antiseptic and supportive in cystitis and urethritis but also supports the same uses as the essential oil through internal consumption of tincture, tisane or capsules. Below is a microscopic view of thyme cells.
