Who the course is intended for

This course is designed for anyone with a general interest in aromatherapy who is prepared to study on their own initiative and at their own pace. It is also suitable to be purchased as a refresher course, perhaps even to extend your knowledge base. It is important to realise that most home study courses are designed for personal development and are not accredited by any professional associations as there is no practical element to the course.

You will receive a certificate to show the modules you have covered in case you wish to complete a bridging course which will bring you up to a nationally recognised status.

Duration of course

There is no deadline set for this course as students learn at their own pace and in their own time. Having said this, some discipline is required to ensure you progress at a steady pace in order to get to the finish line. It is always a good idea to set yourself some personal deadlines to allow you to achieve your goals.

The course consists of 10 compact lessons that are sent out periodically on completion of each module.

Each lesson is discussed in great detail and includes a summary to enrich the learning process.

Course contents will  include history, anatomy, psychology, physiology, effects of essential oils, aromatherapy and specialised massage techniques, safety guides for treatment, consultation scripts and much more.

LESSON 1 – History of Aromatherapy

Discusses our world today and history of aromatherapy following through to modern times.

LESSON 2 – Human Anatomy

Explores organic life and our hidden inner armour known as the skeletal system.

LESSON 3 – Muscle Structure

Discusses different types of muscles and their actions whilst looking closely at various muscular tissue under a microscope.

LESSON 4 – Physiology

Covers the human body ranging from the vascular, lymphatic, nervous and endocrine system. Special features also include the lymphatic system explained in great detail.

LESSON 5 – Fragrant Chemistry

Introduces chemical constituents, methods of distillation, main plant families, chemical properties and effects of essential oils, synergy’s and main plant families.

LESSON 6 – Health & Safety Issues

Covers in-depth aromatherapy training ranging: cross-reference health and safety chart, skin sensitivity, first aid procedures, contraindications, infections, infestations, types of microscopic bacteria, disease and disorders affecting treatment.

LESSON 7 – Essential Oils Part 1, 2 & 3

Explores how essential oils merge with the human system including a cross-reference of oils, thirty essential oil charts including properties, characteristics, family origins, suited blends, notes, constituents, cultivation, evaporation, character history, etc.

LESSON 8 – Using Essential Oils

Covers thorough understanding of essential oils and carrier oils, correct dilutions, dosage guides for pregnancy, children, precautionary reminders. Also features a professional therapeutic cross-reference chart used as a tool for determining correct treatment plans.

LESSON 9 – Essential Massage + pactical DVD exclusive only to Universal Studies.

Introduces massage as an independent treatment along with it’s basic history. Also features massage benefits, techniques, classifications, holistic practice, hand exercises, practise sessions, checklists, massage routines, correct pressures etc. plus more.

LESSON 10 – Practical Treatment Techniques

Introduces code of ethics and practical aromatherapy treatment examination procedures. The client record card, psycho and physical therapeutic groups and treating physical conditions. We will also include 5 record cards along with a practical treatment folder.

OPTIONAL – Business Plan

This is a proven method to qualify for a business loan but is subjected to applicant status requirements.
